Christmas came early this year for Brandy Norwood, who just discovered she has a long lost relative — but not just any long lost relative. Turns out, the Grammy-winning singer is the cousin of primetime actress Tamala Jones, who plays medical examiner Lanie Parish on ABC’s hit crime procedural Castle. Talk about some good genes!
“Just found out that @tamalajones is my cousin,”
Brandy tweeted on Christmas Eve, along with a picture of the girls and another cousin in the middle, who seems to have made the connection.
Tamala tweeted her excitement as well with a series of hashtags:
"#me&mycousins #justfoundoutbrandyismycousin #cousins #bloodline #wow #thankyouBrandon @bcstarr you connected us , family !!! #loveislove #2014 #changeisbeautiful #butterflies #cousinBrandy!!! #lifeistrulypoetic."
Talent and beauty clearly run in this family. Not only is Tamala an accomplished actress, but she’s also quite the singer herself. The 39-year-old TV star showed off her vocal prowess back in Season 4 ofCastle, portraying a Billie Holiday-esque lounge singer from the 1940s. Surprisingly, Tamala had no idea she could even carry a tune until the show’s executive producer proposed the idea.
