Brandy Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Self-Titled Debut Album with New Song “Freedom Rings”

In honor of the 25th anniversary of her debut album, the R&B veteran celebrates her longevity and resilience with her new anthem “Freedom Rings.” The “Vocal Bible” shows off her powerful pipes while sharing her testimony on the soulful rock-tinged track.

“I gave you all I had / My love, my blood, my sweat, and my time / But you wanted more / I invested these years, these tears that I cried,” she sings before paying homage to late songwriter-producer LaShawn Daniels.

Brandy released her self-titled debut on Sept. 27, 1994. The album went 4x platinum in the U.S. and spawned hits like “Baby” and “I Wanna Be Down.” She is now readying her seventh album, the follow-up to 2012’s Two Eleven, which will be released on Brand Nu Entertainment/Entertainment One.
