Brandy ft. Ty Dolla $ign, ‘No Tomorrow, Part 2’ – Available Now
News: Brandy (@4everBrandy) Interviews with Rap Up Magazine (@RapUp)
Brandy is back. Eighteen years after releasing her multi-platinum debut, the R&B veteran returns to the charts with her biggest hit in 10 years, “Put It Down.” But despite her latest feat, there was a time when Brandy didn’t think she would ever have success again in the music industry.
“I actually thought it was over four or five times,” she told Rap-Up TV. “It’s been that dark for me at moments because when you’re off your path and you can’t find your way—you feel lost, you feel uninspired, you feel unfulfilled—to get this opportunity to reach my fans again and share music with them again, this is really a blessing.”
Her sixth album Two Eleven features today’s top hitmakers including Sean Garrett, Rico Love, Bangladesh, Chris Brown, and Frank Ocean, who wrote “Scared of Beautiful.” “He’s just a genius,” she said of the Odd Future member. “The song that he wrote, it just speaks to the fear of being the best version of you, the best part of yourself.”
Her current single, “Wildest Dreams,” was inspired by her boyfriend Ryan Press. So is Brandy headed down the aisle anytime soon? “I better see weddingbells in the future,” joked the 33-year-old singer, who would like to add a son to her family. “I’m focused on so much right now that even if I was to get my ring today, I wouldn’t be able to start planning a wedding until later.”
However, she does plan to tour in February and is eyeing a collaboration with Kelly Rowland, but she’s just waiting on Kelly to find the right song. “I would love for it to be a groove, so we can kinda do choreography in the video and make it hot and unexpected,” she shared.
Two Eleven arrives in stores and online Tuesday featuring the singles “Wildest Dreams” and “Put It Down” with Chris Brown.
